Last day of the year 2013. Spent the day with my quilting friend and teacher Kathi stitching and gabbing. Just what we both needed.

Haven't thought much about 2014 or resolutions. Am looking forward to Jim and I's anniversary March 2nd. We will celebrate 30 years of wedded bliss. We've had many adventures and celebrations these past years. Spending 2 months living in a tent in a campground with 2 kids and a teenager, backpacking in the Smokey Mountains. Camping behind spoil islands in Mosquito Lagoon in our 18 foot sailboat, and living on a 29 foot sailboat. We lived in a mobile home for 1 month with no electricity or water for two months while we put down a well and ran electric. During that time we bathed in lake water heated on the stove and placed in a shower bag,  proving a teenage girl could take a shower and wash her hair in 2.5 gallons of water if she had to carry the second bucket from the lake.  Jim put out a 1/2 acre brush fire with a 5 gallon bucket during our time living in the country. We made many happy memories, very few sad ones. I pray God gives us many more in 2014.

As for 2014 quilting goals, I plan to finish some UFOs, improve my hand quilting  kills and learn hand applique.

May you all have a blessed New Year

Didn't get any hand quilting in today but did get started on the order for microwave bowl cozies and all six Christmas stockings my daughter requested are quilted and ready for assembly. I would have had them finished but our granddaughters and daughter came by for a visit. There is always tomorrow.

My baby boy, Tebow. He is Jim's nap buddy and my entertainment. He also follows me from sewing machine to cutting table to rocking chair and back again to lie at my feet. He needs a trim though.

Yesterday, Saturday was so gloomy and depressing I stayed in and quilted. This is my first hand quilted item. A  Christmas table topper which reverses for Valentines day.

Here it is with the center quilted with cross hatch.

And the beginning of the boarder:

I am doing a scattering of stars? snowflakes? in different sizes.

And now for the back of the quilt:

Hard to see the stitching because the lights bring out the sparkles in the materials.

OK haven't done much on this blog. Here is my first hand quilting project before quilting.

This will be for my daughter for next Christmas. It is a table topper.
